The University of Minya recently hosted the launch of sports tournaments for individual, pair, and team events as part of the 14th Egyptian Universities and Higher Institutes Youth Week. The event, scheduled from September 25 to 30, 2026, is held under the patronage of Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouli, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr. Abdel Aziz Kansoua, and University of Minya President Dr. Essam Farhat.

The Youth Week coincides with the University of Minya's golden jubilee celebrations, marking 50 years since its establishment. This convergence adds a unique significance to the event, reflecting the university's evolution and modernization of its infrastructure and sports facilities. The sports competitions commenced with strong participation from Egyptian universities and higher institutes. The events include individual and pair tournaments, such as table tennis for students and female students in single and double formats, as well as padel and athletics. Team events feature five-a-side football for students and female students, basketball, and volleyball tournaments for students.

The competitions take place at the sports city facilities of the University of Minya, Tartan fields, and the faculty of Education. These locations were prepared to host the Youth Week, providing necessary resources for the events according to approved sports standards. This ensures the facilities are ready to accommodate participating delegations and teams.

Currently, group stage matches are ongoing across various sports, with close competition among participating teams and students. The goal is to advance to higher rounds and complete the competitions, ultimately reaching the final stages. The atmosphere reflects a spirit of competition, commitment, and sportsmanship among Egyptian university youth.
