The Egyptian Business Council recently hosted a Turkish delegation comprising 11 companies specializing in agricultural machinery and smart farming. The meeting, led by Engineer Mustafa El-Naggar, Chairman of the Agriculture and Irrigation Committee at the Egyptian Business Council, and Muhammad Salami, Secretary-General of the Turkish Association of Agricultural Machinery and Equipment Manufacturers (Tarmakbir), aimed to enhance commercial and investment cooperation between Egyptian and Turkish companies in agricultural mechanization and modern farming.
El-Naggar welcomed the Turkish delegation, emphasizing the historical, cultural, and civilizational ties between Egypt and Turkey. He highlighted the council's commitment to supporting cooperation between the business communities in both countries and providing channels for communication with government entities and the private sector. El-Naggar noted that Turkish interest in the Egyptian market reflects promising opportunities for economic cooperation, particularly in industry, agriculture, and agricultural mechanization.
The meeting discussed the significant contribution of the private sector to Egypt's agricultural activity, accounting for around 85%. The council also reviewed the state's support for small-scale farmers, including providing essential agricultural production inputs such as fertilizers and seeds, as well as technical support and agricultural guidance. The Egyptian Agricultural Bank's role in supporting small-scale farmers through financing for agricultural activities and production was also highlighted.
Salami emphasized the importance of the visit and noted that Tarmakbir has around 200 member companies specializing in agricultural mechanization. He stated that Turkish companies aim to establish commercial partnerships, economic cooperation, and joint projects with their Egyptian counterparts in various agricultural fields. Salami highlighted the significance of the Egyptian market for Turkish agricultural machinery and equipment, both in terms of trade and investment.
The two parties explored various cooperation opportunities, including agricultural machinery and equipment, irrigation systems, harvesting and packaging equipment, olive cultivation and production, soil improvement, and smart farming applications. They also discussed utilizing agricultural waste and producing biochar. The meeting aimed to convert proposed cooperation areas into practical and sustainable partnerships and projects.
The Turkish companies plan to participate in the "Sahara 2026" exhibition with a pavilion for around 30 companies, seeking to hold bilateral meetings with Egyptian companies and explore opportunities for contracting and establishing commercial and investment cooperation projects. Salami confirmed that Turkey has industrial capabilities to produce various types of machinery and equipment used in the agricultural sector, providing opportunities for cooperation with Egyptian companies.
The Egyptian Business Council expressed its readiness to provide necessary support and facilitate communication between Egyptian and Turkish companies, aiming to transform proposed cooperation areas into practical and sustainable partnerships and projects.
