Egyptian Transport Minister, Kamal El-Wazir, held a meeting with Hungarian Transport Minister, David Vitézy, on the second day of his participation in the InnoTrans 2026 conference and exhibition in Berlin. The meeting was attended by Egyptian Deputy Transport Minister for Electric Traction and Railways, Eng. Wagdy Radwan. The two ministers discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries in various transportation fields, particularly in the railway sector.

The meeting reviewed the latest developments in cooperation between the two countries in the railway sector and discussed ways to enhance Egyptian-Hungarian cooperation in several transportation fields. The two ministers also exchanged expertise and utilized the available capabilities and expertise of both countries to develop public transportation systems, railways, and green transportation.
After the meeting, Minister El-Wazir visited the InnoTrans exhibition, where he inspected several booths of international and local companies participating in the event. These companies are linked to the implementation of various projects in cooperation with the Egyptian Ministry of Transport in different transportation sectors. The Minister was briefed on the latest solutions and advanced technologies offered by these companies.
Minister El-Wazir held a series of meetings with heads of these companies, starting with a meeting with Joseph Marino, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hitachi. They discussed the implementation rates of several joint projects, including the Alexandria Metro project. The Minister emphasized the need to accelerate the completion of system works in coordination with the main contractor.
The Minister also met with Martin Seon, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Alstom. They reviewed the latest developments in several projects, including the two monorail lines east and west of the Nile. The Minister confirmed the readiness of operation and maintenance teams for the stations and trains of the west Nile monorail. The two parties also discussed the sixth line of the metro and the progress of work in Alstom's industrial complex in the New Borg El Arab City.
During his tour, Minister El-Wazir also inspected the booth of the Egyptian company, Trest, which specializes in manufacturing train seats and passenger transport buses. He praised the company's products and its ability to meet the needs of the local market and expand exports to foreign markets. The Minister emphasized the importance of deepening local manufacturing and localizing transportation industries.
