He then proceeded to the area under the Prophet's Mosque Bridge to monitor the progress of work according to the governorate's plan. The Prime Minister emphasized the need to continue working on this environmental project in all governorates.
During the inspection, Dr. Madbouli received a detailed briefing from Dr. Ibrahim Saber on the executive plan of Cairo Governorate to implement the President's directives to greenify Cairo. The plan involves a tripartite approach comprising the executive bodies of the governorate, civil society organizations, and citizens themselves. The governorate's plan is proceeding on two parallel tracks: raising awareness about the importance of afforestation and intensifying tree planting.
Dr. Ibrahim Saber explained that the governorate has started implementing the greenification plan scientifically, using a specialized consulting office to select suitable tree species for the Egyptian environment. The focus is on trees that provide shade, consume less water, and can withstand climate conditions. The governorate has already planted over 3,000 trees and approximately 700,000 shrubs and plants in various axes, roads, and vacant lands.
The Prime Minister concluded his tour by emphasizing the importance of public participation in protecting and preserving trees, considering it a shared responsibility between executive bodies and citizens. He stressed the need to continue working on this large environmental project and to generalize it in various regions of the Cairo Governorate. The governorate aims to plant one million plants within a year, including 60,000 trees.
