Egyptian Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouli participated in a session on "Development Corridors and Logistics Paths" on the sidelines of the Africa Business Forum and the African Union's NEPAD Summit in New El Alamein City, Egypt, from October 2-4, 2026. He stressed that efficient transport and logistics systems have become an integral part of economic security and resilience in the face of crises. Madbouli noted that recent global economic developments have shown that efficient transport and logistics systems are crucial for countries and regions to achieve growth and enhance their competitiveness.

Madbouli emphasized that Africa has a historic opportunity to redefine its development corridors, moving beyond traditional transportation routes to integrated systems that drive economic and social development. He noted that this aligns with the African Union's Agenda 2063 and the Program for Infrastructure Development in Africa (PIDA). The Prime Minister highlighted the importance of linking production areas to consumption centers and markets, and integrating transportation, energy, communications, logistics, and industrial and urban areas.

The Egyptian Prime Minister identified the main challenge in developing these corridors as not only building roads, railways, and ports but also integrating these assets into a cohesive system that creates economic value. He stressed the need for a comprehensive approach that includes energy, logistics, and digital infrastructure. Madbouli cited Egypt's experience in developing El Alamein City as an example of creating a modern, integrated urban center that combines economic, service, and tourism activities.

Madbouli discussed Egypt's efforts to develop its transportation and logistics systems, including the creation of seven integrated logistics corridors to link industrial, agricultural, and mining areas to seaports. He also highlighted the country's strategic location, which enables it to serve as a hub for trade between Africa, the Mediterranean, and global markets. The Prime Minister emphasized that Egypt's experience in this field reflects the importance of integrating transportation, logistics, and economic development.

The security of development corridors and logistics paths is also a critical concern, according to Madbouli. He stressed that a safe and stable environment is essential for ensuring the continuity of trade, energy, and data flows. The Prime Minister called for a comprehensive approach to securing these corridors, including cooperation among countries and international organizations to address threats such as organized crime, piracy, and cyber threats.

Madbouli highlighted several key initiatives and projects aimed at promoting African integration and development, including the VICMED project, which aims to establish a multimodal transportation system linking Lake Victoria to the Mediterranean Sea. He also noted that Egypt has contributed to the development of an integrated corridor concept within the PIDA framework.

In conclusion, Madbouli emphasized the importance of collective action and cooperation among African countries to achieve economic growth and development. He called for increased investment in transportation and logistics infrastructure, as well as the implementation of policies and strategies that promote trade and economic integration. The Prime Minister's remarks underscored the critical role that efficient transport and logistics systems play in driving economic growth and security in Africa.
