The El Alamein - Africa Business Forum kicked off with an opening session attended by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. The forum aims to enhance strategic partnerships and seize investment opportunities across Africa and key global markets. It brings together African leaders, business executives, and economic institution representatives. The event is being held in the New El Alamein City from October 2 to 4, 2026.
President el-Sisi also chaired a summit of the founding states of the African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD), alongside Angolan President João Lourenço. The summit was attended by heads and representatives of the agency's founding states, including Egypt, Algeria, Nigeria, Senegal, and South Africa. Burundian President Évariste Ndayishimiye, as the current African Union chair, and representatives of the African Union Commission and AUDA-NEPAD's Executive Director also participated.
The Egyptian President will also participate in the 8th Mid-Year Coordinating Meeting of the African Union, scheduled for October 4 in the New El Alamein City. He is set to deliver the opening and closing speeches at the meeting, which will be attended by several African leaders and heads of regional economic communities. On the sidelines, President el-Sisi will hold bilateral and multilateral meetings with African leaders and officials to discuss ways to enhance African cooperation and promote development and continental integration.
The El Alamein - Africa Business Forum brings together a selection of top executives, business leaders, investors, and policymakers. Its agenda includes high-level plenary sessions, specialized sector-based discussions, and closed-door roundtable meetings. Key areas of focus include infrastructure, energy, digital transformation, manufacturing, and intra-African trade. The forum will also highlight Egypt's role as a regional hub and gateway to African markets.
A range of prominent African leaders are participating in the forum, including Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, and Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni. Other participants include Burundian President Évariste Ndayishimiye, Angolan President João Lourenço, Tanzanian President Samia Hassan, Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye, and Equatorial Guinean President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo.
The forum's strategic objectives include aligning policy and investment priorities, mobilizing partnerships for implementation, and promoting intra-African trade. Key areas of discussion will include infrastructure, transportation, logistics, energy, mining, digital transformation, innovation, and healthcare. The goal is to transition the African dialogue from discussing challenges to exploring financing mechanisms and implementation processes.
Notable participants include African Union Commission Chairperson Mahmoud Ali Yousif, AUDA-NEPAD CEO Nardos Bekele-Thomas, and African Export-Import Bank President George Elombi. Egyptian Central Bank Governor Hassan Abdellah and prominent businessman Aliko Dangote are also in attendance. The forum aims to facilitate deal-making and long-term partnerships through organized business-to-business and business-to-government meetings.
