The Kuwaiti Dinar concluded trading on Sunday, September 20, 2026, at varying levels against the Egyptian Pound. The highest selling price was recorded at 171.02 EGP in the National Bank of Kuwait, while the highest buying price was 169.22 EGP in the Arab International Bank.

The prices of the Kuwaiti Dinar differed among banks, more so than some other Gulf currencies. The buying price ranged from 163.91 to 169.22 EGP, while the selling price moved between 169.26 and 171.02 EGP. This resulted in a 1.76 EGP difference between the highest and lowest selling prices.

The Kuwaiti Dinar's movement is unique in the foreign exchange market, as the Central Bank of Kuwait does not peg the currency solely to the US Dollar. Instead, it manages the Dinar's price based on a weighted basket of currencies from Kuwait's main trading and financial partners. This aims to maintain exchange rate stability and limit the impact of imported inflation.

In global markets, the US Dollar gained additional strength last week after the Federal Reserve raised the interest rate by 25 basis points to 3.75%-4%. This was accompanied by expectations of continued monetary tightening, with 16 out of 18 policymakers seeing the possibility of another rate hike before the end of the year. The decision supported the US currency, pushing the Dollar Index to its highest level in about five weeks.

The movement of the US Dollar affects the Kuwaiti Dinar, as it is one of the components of the currency basket used by the Central Bank of Kuwait. The value of the Dinar against the Egyptian Pound is ultimately determined by the movement of both currencies in global markets, along with pricing by local banks. Several external factors influence the Dinar's movement, including the strength of the Dollar and the performance of currencies in the Dinar's basket.

On Sunday, the prices of the Kuwaiti Dinar varied across Egyptian banks. In the Arab International Bank, the buying price was 169.22 EGP, and the selling price was 169.60 EGP. In HSBC Bank, the buying price was 169.15 EGP, and the selling price was 169.62 EGP. The Arab International Bank offered a buying price of 169.12 EGP and a selling price of 169.44 EGP.

Other banks, including Credit Agricole, Kuwait Finance House, Arab African International Bank, Suez Canal Bank, Commercial International Bank, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, Bank of Egypt, National Bank of Kuwait, and Bank of Alexandria, also quoted different prices for buying and selling the Kuwaiti Dinar. The highest selling price was 171.02 EGP in the National Bank of Kuwait, while the lowest buying price was 163.91 EGP in the Bank of Alexandria.
