Dr. Mohamed El-Tony, Deputy Governor of Fayoum, recently held a meeting with citizens in Shkshouk village, part of Abshway center, to listen to their requests and complaints. The meeting aimed to find suitable solutions in coordination with the service administrations at the center. The event was attended by Dr. Sherine Mohamed Mahmoud, head of the local unit for Abshway center and city. This move is part of ongoing efforts to improve services and address citizens' concerns in the region.
During the meeting, Dr. El-Tony discussed 33 complaints from citizens. These included requests for job opportunities for university graduates, particularly women, and encouraging them to participate in a job fair organized by the governorate on October 4. The job fair, to be held at the Qarun Club, will provide 1,600 job opportunities in the private sector. Residents also requested medical treatment for a child suffering from muscle atrophy and the establishment of a basic education school in the village.
Other concerns raised by the villagers included requests for financial assistance for those in need, obtaining pensions under the "Takaful and Karama" program, and issues related to the suspension of some food cards. The meeting also addressed problems with water shortages for irrigation in the area. Dr. El-Tony provided guidance on addressing these issues through coordination with relevant authorities.
Dr. El-Tony directed the Ministry of Social Solidarity to coordinate with local associations to provide necessary assistance to those in need, following established regulations. He also instructed the Ministry of Education to assess the need for a basic education school in the village in coordination with the Educational Buildings Authority. These directives aim to improve social services and infrastructure in Shkshouk village.
The Deputy Governor also directed the "Mashrouk" management, the Local Development Administration, and the Fayoum branch of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency to provide support and financing for small projects. This initiative seeks to help women who are heads of households and families with medical conditions to establish small businesses that can provide a source of income. Further guidance was given to the Field Follow-up Unit at the governorate to review water levels and address issues with irrigation water shortages.
The meeting also touched on efforts to improve the quality of water in Lake Qarun, which will help increase the number of shrimp larvae that can be introduced. Recently, two million larvae were introduced into the lake during September to support local fishermen. This initiative is part of broader efforts to enhance the region's natural resources and support livelihoods dependent on fishing.
