The Egyptian Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation has revealed its key activities and achievements from September 25 to October 1, as part of the state's strategy to ensure food security and promote sustainable agricultural development. The ministry's efforts have been focused on supporting agricultural investment, enhancing international cooperation, and intensifying veterinary services.

During the past week, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Alaa Farouk, participated in the graduation ceremony of students from the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport. He also reviewed the strategy for achieving food security and green transformation during a meeting with the Cairo Rotary Club. Furthermore, Farouk discussed ways to support agricultural investment with the Desert Land Reclamation Chamber, emphasizing the importance of facilitating obstacles for the private sector and encouraging investments in the agricultural sector.

In terms of international cooperation and investment, the Desert Research Center participated in an international program in China on combating desertification and environmental agriculture. This coincided with the announcement of a new project to produce animal feed with Chinese investments, in cooperation with the company "New Hope", aiming to support agricultural manufacturing and localize technology. Additionally, the head of the General Organization for Veterinary Services participated in the Global One Health Conference in Italy.

The Ministry of Agriculture continued to implement vaccination campaigns for livestock, providing over 6.8 million doses of vaccinations against foot-and-mouth disease and valley fever. The ministry also organized 269 free veterinary convoys to serve 276 villages, providing medical and diagnostic services to over 114,000 heads of cattle and 153,000 birds. The veterinary services included spraying 30,000 heads to combat parasites, dosing 52,000 cases, and treating 24,000 internal cases.

The Ministry of Agriculture continued its efforts to support agricultural production, expanding the local production of potato seeds in Giza and Minya governorates, in cooperation with the Exporters Union and the Arab Alliance. The ministry also supported the contractual agriculture system and marketed sesame crops in Gharbiya governorate, in addition to intensifying field and regulatory tours to protect agricultural crops in North and South Sinai.

In the field of food safety and pesticides, the Food Technology Research Institute was re-accredited as a training and consulting entity in the fields of quality and food safety. The ministry also implemented a training program in Sohag governorate on modern methods of combating agricultural pests, in addition to continuing to develop the agricultural extension system and legislation in cooperation with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

The Ministry of Agriculture launched a comprehensive program to develop Egyptian agricultural exports, and trained 14 students from Romania on embryo inspection and transfer techniques. The ministry also implemented specialized training programs in the fields of agricultural and veterinary production. Moreover, the Animal Health Research Institute won four international awards during its participation in the International Veterinary Medicine Conference.
