Former President of the Musicians Union of Ghana, Diana Hopeson, has urged students to take their education seriously and prepare themselves holistically for the opportunities and responsibilities that lie ahead. She emphasized the importance of continuous personal development, and remaining mentally, academically, and spiritually prepared for opportunities that may come their way. This call was made during an engagement with students of Tema International School as part of her nationwide Senior High School tour.
Mrs. Hopeson, a gospel music icon, shared her message with the students through her new album titled “Megyae,” which features incredible messages and spirit-filled songs. In an interview with the Ghana News Agency, she mentioned that she has combined her music career with advocacy, mentorship, and initiatives focusing on inspiring young people and promoting positive values in society. Her engagement with the students provided them with the opportunity to reflect on the importance of continuous growth, discipline, preparedness, and personal development.
At the heart of her message, Mrs. Hopeson emphasized the need for young people to experience growth in four key areas: wisdom, stature, favor with God, and favor with men. She encouraged students to pursue growth in wisdom by developing knowledge, understanding, and sound judgment, stressing that academic education must go beyond simply passing examinations. This, she believes, will enable them to navigate life and respond effectively when opportunities arise.
The gospel music icon challenged the students to seek growth in favor with God, placing emphasis on spiritual development, moral values, and a strong moral foundation. She also linked growing in favor with men to the importance of relationships, service, respect, leadership, and the ability to positively impact others. Mrs. Hopeson urged the students to develop qualities that would enable them to work effectively with people and become responsible members of society.
Mrs. Hopeson’s message was also centered on Tema International School’s four essential mandates: academic, service, culture, and sports. She encouraged the students to embrace these areas as important components of their overall development, stressing that academic excellence must be complemented by service to others, participation in culture, and the development of sporting abilities. These areas, she believes, provide students with opportunities to discover their strengths, develop discipline, build relationships, and become well-rounded individuals.
According to Mrs. Hopeson, becoming prepared for future responsibilities requires young people to grow not only in what they know but also in who they are and how they conduct themselves. Her nationwide Senior High School tour aims to inspire and motivate students to strive for excellence and make a positive impact in their communities. By sharing her message and music, Mrs. Hopeson hopes to empower the next generation of leaders to make a difference.
The engagement with Tema International School students was a successful one, with Mrs. Hopeson sharing her experiences and insights with the students. Her message was well-received, and the students were inspired to take their education and personal development seriously. As a gospel music icon and advocate for positive values, Mrs. Hopeson’s words of encouragement are expected to have a lasting impact on the students.
