Egyptian Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, Hani Sweilem, recently chaired a meeting to review the digital transformation plan for the Egyptian General Authority for Survey and Land Affairs. The plan aims to enhance the authority's services, improve communication with citizens, and simplify procedures. During the meeting, Sweilem discussed the current status of the authority's digitalization efforts, including the completion of digitizing textual data for a network of fixed stations and geodetic data.

The Egyptian General Authority for Survey and Land Affairs has made significant progress in its digital transformation journey. The authority has completed digitizing textual data for its network of fixed stations and geodetic data, as well as creating a digital geographic database for the Real Estate Registry system. Additionally, the authority has digitized topographic maps and aerial photographs. The authority is currently undertaking a project to scan and digitize paper maps and documents.

The proposed digital transformation plan involves establishing a data center at the authority's main headquarters and another data center in one of the land survey directorates in the provinces. This is a pilot project that aims to eventually expand to all land survey directorates in the provinces. The plan seeks to develop the technological infrastructure and establish electronic connections between the main headquarters and the directorates, facilitating the exchange of data and information digitally.

The digital transformation plan aligns with the second generation of the Water 2.0 system, which aims to improve the performance of the land survey authority. Minister Sweilem emphasized the importance of developing the authority's work system to become the primary national reference for digital spatial data. This will support the implementation of national projects, improve the efficiency of survey services, and facilitate procedures for citizens.

The development of digital services is expected to enhance transparency and improve the performance of land survey directorates. Minister Sweilem directed the continuation of the technological development and digital transformation plan in all sectors of the authority. This includes digitizing services provided by the authority through land survey directorates and engineering offices.

The Egyptian General Authority for Survey and Land Affairs aims to improve communication between citizens and land survey directorates. The authority plans to establish clear mechanisms for citizens to submit requests, track their progress, and expedite services, particularly those related to citizens and national projects. The authority will also provide training and capacity-building programs for its employees to enable them to perform their tasks efficiently.

The digital transformation plan is a significant step towards improving the services provided by the Egyptian General Authority for Survey and Land Affairs. The plan is expected to enhance the authority's performance, improve transparency, and facilitate procedures for citizens.
