Dr. Abdel Aziz Kansoua, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Acting Minister of Culture, paid a visit to Minya University, accompanied by Minya Governor, Brigadier General Emad Kdwani, and Minya University President, Dr. Essam Farhat. The visit aimed to inspect and inaugurate several new university and medical facilities, including a sports city and specialized medical hospitals.
The sports city, built on an area of 22,000 square meters at a cost of 100 million EGP, features a standard football field with artificial turf, a tartan track, and multi-use sports courts. Additionally, it includes a comprehensive sports hall with changing rooms, a fitness center, and storage rooms for sports equipment and attire.
Dr. Kansoua also inspected the Internal Medicine and Surgery Hospital, built on an area of 33,000 square meters, with a capacity of 430 beds. The hospital features the largest operating theater complex in northern Egypt, with 11 operating theaters, as well as educational platforms and classrooms linked to the operating theaters via closed-circuit TV systems.
The Minister also visited the Neurology, Neurosurgery, and Psychiatry Hospital, which has 124 beds, a central blood bank, and a specialized unit for cerebral catheterization and neurological interventions. The hospital's project covers an area of 7,200 square meters and was constructed and equipped at a cost of 1.86 billion EGP.
Furthermore, Dr. Kansoua inspected the University Cancer Treatment Hospital, the largest university hospital for cancer treatment in Upper Egypt. The hospital has 150 beds, the largest chemotherapy unit, and a cancer surgery department with three major operating theaters. It also features a radiation therapy unit with a linear accelerator and CT simulator, as well as a nuclear medicine unit and specialized clinics.
During his visit, Dr. Kansoua emphasized the Egyptian government's interest in developing public universities as a key aspect of human development and supporting national development efforts. He praised the educational and medical projects implemented by Minya University, highlighting their role in improving infrastructure and services for students and the surrounding community.
