Egyptian Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Dr. Mahmoud Essmat, recently conducted an on-site visit to the Atomic Energy Authority located in Inchass. The visit included a tour of the Nuclear Research Center, the Hot Laboratory, and various other research facilities. During his visit, Dr. Essmat witnessed several laboratory experiments focused on water purification using natural materials. He also reviewed updates on projects utilizing local materials to produce phosphoric acid, increase phosphate ore concentration, and produce potassium.
The visit aligns with the Egyptian government's plan to maximize returns from natural resources and promote the use of scientific research. The plan also aims to support applied research projects and localize modern technology. This visit is part of the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy's program to optimize alternative opportunities and achieve the highest economic returns. The program also seeks to improve performance rates and maximize returns from owned assets.
Dr. Essmat's visit is part of a series of ongoing field tours to inspect work and production sites, as well as affiliated agencies and sectors, across all governorates. The goal of these visits is to improve performance rates, maximize returns from owned assets, and support accumulated expertise, particularly in research and scientific institutions. During the visit, Dr. Essmat reviewed the application of research results to increase production and manufacturing.
Dr. Essmat began his visit by listening to a detailed explanation from Dr. Gamal Abdel Hamid, a microbiology professor at the Nuclear Research Center. The explanation covered an applied project to concentrate phosphorus pentoxide in phosphate ore extraction waste. The project involves a new technology that includes several stages: silica separation, heavy element separation, and conversion of the ore into pure phosphoric acid for use in agriculture, food, and industry.
Dr. Essmat also heard about an applied project using glauconite ore and potassium and magnesium elements to produce ferro silicon, used in the metal industry. He witnessed several successful laboratory experiments on water purification using local natural materials. These projects are considered innovative additions to green technology and contribute to reducing the costs of seawater desalination using economic technology.
Dr. Essmat emphasized that the applied projects seen during the visit represent a scientific addition, not only for their green technology but also for their contribution to saving costs. He expressed his support for applied projects and the creation of necessary economic entities in collaboration with relevant authorities to maximize returns and utilize natural resources and land.
The Atomic Energy Authority has accumulated expertise and experience, particularly in medical sciences, land reclamation, and increasing crop productivity. The authority plays a crucial role in developing, disseminating, and supporting peaceful uses of atomic energy. With ongoing projects and research, the authority continues to contribute to Egypt's scientific and economic development.
