Egyptian Minister of Local Development and Environment Dr. Manal Awad met with Qalyubia Governor Dr. Hussam Abdel Fattah to review development projects. The meeting covered the executive position of projects included in the governorate's 2026/2027 investment plan. Dr. Awad and Dr. Abdel Fattah discussed the procedures for bidding, awarding, and starting project implementation in various centers, cities, and districts. The minister highlighted the need to focus on urban and rural development, road improvement, environmental enhancement, and local community services.
The governorate is working to maximize the use of available assets and resources to support investment, create job opportunities, and capitalize on relative advantages. Several investment opportunities in various cities and centers were reviewed to achieve economic returns and financial resources that contribute to ongoing development plans.
Dr. Abdel Fattah stated that the governorate aims to develop a comprehensive vision to attract more investments in various economic sectors. This would help maximize the use of state-owned assets, achieve sustainable economic development, create new job opportunities for young people, and improve services for citizens.
The meeting also addressed the integrated solid waste management system. Dr. Awad followed up on the governorate's efforts to improve waste collection, transportation, and disposal. She emphasized the importance of utilizing the new infrastructure, particularly the two intermediate waste stations in Al-Khanaka and Benha.
The minister and governor discussed preparations for planting trees along main roads and axes in the governorate. This initiative aims to increase green spaces and expand tree planting in line with presidential and prime ministerial directives. They also reviewed the latest developments in the file of reconciliation of building violations.
Dr. Awad and Dr. Abdel Fattah emphasized the importance of expediting the reconciliation process, speeding up the examination and completion of applications, and facilitating procedures for citizens. They also discussed the follow-up on the implementation of the first phase of the 30th wave of removals of encroachments on state and agricultural lands.
