Egyptian Industry Minister Khaled Hisham has commended Unilever as a vital partner to Egypt's industry. The company operates three factories in Egypt, exporting products to over 30 countries. Minister Hisham's remarks came during the inauguration of a new production line at Unilever's "Mashreq" personal care factory in the Sixth of October City. The event was attended by several high-ranking officials, including Investment and Foreign Trade Minister Mohamed Farid and Giza Governor Ahmed El Ansari.

The new production line is part of Unilever's expansion plans in Egypt, which is backed by the country's competitive advantages, including its strategic location, extensive trade agreements, and skilled workforce. Minister Hisham emphasized that this expansion aligns with the Ministry of Industry's strategy to deepen local manufacturing, boost exports, and enhance Egypt's industry competitiveness in the global supply chain.

The partnership between the government and the private sector is crucial to achieving comprehensive and sustainable development, according to Minister Hisham. The Ministry of Industry is working to facilitate industrial procedures, improve services for industrial investors, and create a favorable business environment. He also praised Unilever's commitment to sustainability, citing its water recycling initiatives and use of recycled plastic in packaging.

Minister Hisham highlighted the importance of cooperation between the government and private sector in driving growth and development. He noted that Egypt faces competition from regional branches of multinational companies to attract global investments, emphasizing the need for a skilled local team and government support. The minister also acknowledged Unilever's 20-year presence in Egypt and its contribution to employment, local manufacturing, and exports.

Unilever's "Mashreq" factory, spanning 22,000 square meters, produces a range of personal care and beauty products. The new production line is expected to increase the factory's annual production capacity by 20%, with all output dedicated to export markets. Currently, the factory allocates 65% of its production to export markets, with products reaching over 30 countries.

The majority of raw materials used in the factory's production are sourced locally, reinforcing the connection between Unilever's export growth and Egypt's local supply chain. Unilever has secured the top spot in exporting personal care products from Egypt. Minister Hisham concluded by reaffirming the Ministry of Industry's commitment to supporting Unilever and other private sector partners in driving growth, employment, and exports.

During the visit, Minister Hisham toured the factory, inspecting the new production line and learning about the advanced technologies used in production.
