Qasr Al-Aini Hospital in Egypt has witnessed significant growth in medical services and surgical operations. According to Dr. Hussam Salah, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Qasr Al-Aini and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Cairo University Hospitals, the hospital has performed nearly 49,000 surgical operations. This represents a notable increase from previous years, reflecting the hospital's enhanced capacity and advanced medical capabilities.
The hospital has also made significant strides in adopting modern medical technologies, including robotic surgery. Dr. Salah reported that Qasr Al-Aini has conducted around 200 robotic surgeries, making it one of the first medical institutions to introduce this technology in various specialties. Notably, the hospital offers free robotic surgeries for children, becoming the only university hospital in Egypt to provide this service without charge.
In addition to its surgical advancements, Qasr Al-Aini has made considerable progress in treating critical cases. The hospital has successfully treated 407 patients using Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO), a life-support therapy for patients with severe and life-threatening illnesses. This development underscores the hospital's commitment to enhancing its capabilities in handling high-risk cases.
The hospital has also demonstrated its ability to respond to medical emergencies, including cases of poisoning from ingesting wheat tablets, which can be fatal. Dr. Salah emphasized that the medical teams at Qasr Al-Aini have provided timely interventions and necessary care to these patients, highlighting the hospital's role in saving lives and managing medical emergencies.
Dr. Salah attributed the hospital's progress to its strategic plan aimed at improving performance, expanding the use of modern technologies, and enhancing the quality of healthcare services. The hospital has invested heavily in infrastructure development, with a total of EGP 3.5 billion spent on renovation and development projects over the past three years. This includes EGP 900 million in self-financing during the last year.
The hospital is also working on developing Abu Al-Rish Hospital, with plans to integrate it into the comprehensive health insurance system. Three other hospitals are being prepared to join the system, which is expected to expand healthcare services and improve their efficiency. These developments align with the hospital's goal of providing high-quality medical care to a larger population.
