Egyptian Health Minister Khalid Abdel Ghaffar recently visited the 137 Emergency Services Center and the National Care and Incubator Project, also known as "Racayat Masr." The purpose of his visit was to ensure the smooth operation of these facilities and assess the efficiency of the services provided to citizens. During his tour, Abdel Ghaffar emphasized the importance of rapid response to citizens' needs, stating that it is a top priority for the ministry.
The minister reviewed the operations of the 16474 hotline, which is part of the "Every Second Counts" heart initiative and the stroke initiative. He was informed about the mechanisms for receiving calls, registering cases, and directing them to the appropriate facilities. According to the ministry, a total of 22,736 cases have been registered, including 7,490 catheterization cases and 3,633 stent implantation cases.
Abdel Ghaffar also examined the proposal for the "Command Center" project, which aims to establish a comprehensive system for real-time monitoring of critical cases across the country. The project seeks to improve decision-making and case management by providing immediate access to available beds. Furthermore, the minister visited the complaint and inquiry room, where he observed the workflow and listened to a random call regarding a poisoning case that was promptly redirected to a doctor within one minute.
The minister inspected the 137 Emergency Services Center, which has received a total of 999,766 calls, with an immediate response rate of 98.2%. He also reviewed the performance indicators of the "Racayat Masr" room, where a total of 796,722 cases have been registered, with an average of 66,394 cases per month. The minister was informed that 225,907 cases were allocated to the central room, with an average of 18,826 cases per month.
Abdel Ghaffar discussed the connection and coordination mechanisms between the ambulance system and the "Racayat Masr" project. According to Dr. Hosam Abdel Ghaffar, the capacity of the healthcare system has increased significantly, with 1,403 additional intensive care beds for adults, representing a 44.8% increase. Additionally, 742 incubator beds and 603 medium-care beds for adults have been added.
The minister expressed his appreciation for the efforts made to improve the emergency services and national care projects. He emphasized the importance of continued development and enhancement of these services to ensure the best possible outcomes for citizens.
