The meeting covered the main aspects of a project supporting the implementation of a comprehensive health insurance system. This project aims to improve hospital and health unit infrastructure in targeted governorates and integrate university hospitals into the system. This integration is expected to provide the highest level of healthcare.
Dr. Abdel Gafar stated that the meeting discussed leveraging Indonesia's leading experience in universal health coverage. The goal is to transfer knowledge and best practices in managing large healthcare systems, developing investment models, and applying self-operating mechanisms and public-private partnerships. A visit to Indonesia is planned to learn from their experience.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Abla Al-Alfi, Deputy Minister of Health and Population, and Dr. Sherine Faraki, World Bank Sector Manager for Health, Nutrition, and Population. Other attendees included Dr. Dalia Rashid, Supervisor of the Grants and Loans Department at the Ministry, and representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the World Bank.
The World Bank delegation participated in the meeting via video conference. The Egyptian side was keen to ensure that the meeting was well-coordinated, reflecting the importance of the partnership with the World Bank in developing the healthcare sector.
