The Egyptian General Authority for Cultural Palaces, led by artist Hisham Atwa, recently organized a series of cultural and artistic activities at Tel El-Kashif Preparatory School in Damietta governorate. This initiative was carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, as part of a protocol aimed at fostering cooperation between the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Education. The events included a meeting on national identity and sustainable development, a lecture on environment and heritage, a poetry session, and an art workshop.
The event titled "National Identity: A Bridge to Sustainable Development" featured Ahmed Shtia, Public Relations and Media officer at the Damietta Educational Administration, and Amir Al-Saidi, an Arabic language expert teacher. They discussed concepts of identity, belonging, and sustainability, highlighting the importance of enhancing national identity and instilling a sense of belonging among younger generations. This is seen as crucial for maintaining national cohesion and preserving Egypt's heritage.
A lecture titled "Environment and Heritage in the Service of Sustainable Development" followed, delivered by Najah Omarah, an Arabic language expert teacher. He emphasized the need to protect the environment, rationalize consumption, and expand the use of renewable energy sources to achieve food and water security. Omarah also discussed the role of heritage in supporting sustainable development, stressing the importance of learning from past experiences and applying them to modern life.
The event also included a poetry session featuring poets Ihab Ajiz and Amir Al-Saidi, who presented a number of national poems that were well-received by the audience. The activities were overseen by the East Delta Cultural Region and the Damietta Culture Branch.
The events concluded with an art workshop led by artist Sayed Ashra and artist Salwa Ragab. The workshop included designing Egyptian tourist landmarks, creating pieces on environmental cleanliness, and designing a logo that reflects national identity.
