The conference, organized by the Software Engineering Capability Center (SECC) under the Egyptian Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), is being held at the Egypt Digital Creativity Center (Kritiva) in Giza. This year's conference focuses on the impact of agent artificial intelligence on the software development lifecycle and operations. It explores practices that support building more efficient, reliable, and sustainable technological environments. The goal is to enhance the readiness of local companies and Egyptian cadres to keep up with the changing industry requirements and deal with advanced technologies.
In his opening speech, Eng. Rifat Hendi highlighted the significant transformation in software development and operations with the emergence of DevOps culture, continuous delivery, cloud computing, and automation. He emphasized that the world is witnessing a deeper transition towards autonomous systems through artificial intelligence, which raises questions about accountability, oversight, and the selection of the most suitable model for each task.
Eng. Rifat Hendi also pointed out that Egypt is rapidly moving towards digital transformation, expanding the provision of digital government services to millions of citizens. He stressed that DevOps represents a fundamental pillar in building reliable and scalable digital services. The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology recently launched "Krank," the first large Egyptian linguistic model capable of understanding Arabic and Egyptian colloquial language.
The minister emphasized the importance of developing capabilities in the field of DevOps as a core investment in human capital. He expressed confidence in the efficiency and excellence of Egyptian youth in the communications and information technology sector, which represents a major strength for the sector and an incentive for global companies to expand their operations in Egypt.
The conference program includes four main tracks and three dialogue sessions that discuss the future of DevOps from the perspective of governance, skills, and organizational culture. It also features three specialized workshops that address practical applications in the fields of DevOps and artificial intelligence. The event concludes with the announcement of the winners of the "Employment of DevOps and Artificial Intelligence to Accelerate Automation and Promote Innovation" competition.
A total of 142 teams participated in the competition, with 20 teams qualifying for the final stage, including 10 student teams and 10 teams from graduates and specialists. A committee of 12 judges evaluated the qualifying teams, consisting of 6 Egyptian and 6 international judges. The conference was attended by Dr. Hitham Hamza, head of the Software Engineering Capability Center (SECC), and several leaders from the Egyptian Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA).
