Egyptian Communications and Information Technology Minister Raft Hendi inaugurated the 9th edition of the DevOpsDays Cairo 2026 conference. The event, organized by the Software Engineering Competence Center (SECC) under the Egyptian Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), is being held at the Egypt Digital Creativity Center (Kritiva) in Giza. The conference brings together local and international experts in software engineering, infrastructure development, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity.
The DevOpsDays conference series is a global network of technical events held in over 60 cities worldwide. It focuses on software development, infrastructure operations, and integration. Cairo hosted the first DevOpsDays event in the Arab region in 2018 and has since become the only Arab city to host the conference. This year's event features 66 speakers, including 13 international speakers from nine countries.
The conference explores the impact of artificial intelligence on the software development lifecycle and operations. It discusses practices that support building more efficient, reliable, and sustainable technological environments. This enables local companies and Egyptian cadres to keep pace with industry changes and handle advanced technologies.
Minister Raft Hendi emphasized that DevOps practices represent a cornerstone for building reliable and scalable digital services. He highlighted the launch of "Krank," Egypt's first large language model capable of understanding Arabic. Hendi stressed the importance of developing DevOps capabilities as a core investment in human capital.
The minister noted that Egypt is rapidly advancing in digital transformation, expanding digital government services for millions of citizens. He cited the success of Egyptian youth in the communications and information technology sector, with nearly 200,000 specialists exporting digital services globally.
The conference agenda features four main tracks and three dialogue sessions. These focus on the evolution of DevOps methodologies in the AI era, including cost sustainability, human element sustainability, and security sustainability. Three specialized workshops are also being held, covering practical applications in DevOps and AI.
The event concludes with the announcement of the winning teams in the "Employing DevOps and AI to Accelerate Automation and Drive Innovation" competition. A committee of 12 judges evaluated the finalist teams, which included 10 student teams and 10 teams from graduates and specialists.
