In a recent operation, the Minya Directorate of Supply and Trade, led by Engineer Helmy El-Zohri, conducted a series of inspection campaigns across various centers and cities in the governorate. The campaigns aimed to monitor the quality and availability of goods, prevent manipulation of subsidized and strategic commodities, and crack down on illicit trade. The operation resulted in the detection of numerous violations and the seizure of large quantities of contraband goods.

The campaigns led to the issuance of 283 violation reports, with a significant focus on the bakery sector. A total of 232 violations were recorded, including the production of bread that was underweight or did not meet specifications, lack of weighing scales, and failure to display instructional boards. Additionally, six reports were filed for not maintaining inspection records. These efforts reflect the authorities' commitment to ensuring the integrity of the food supply chain.

In the market sector, the campaigns resulted in 49 reports, including 20 for unknown-source goods. Authorities confiscated 1.5 tons of rice, 1.9 tons of white flour, 1 ton of fertilizer, 1 ton of animal feed, and 1 ton of superphosphate. They also seized quantities of sweets, 1,600 liters of liquid detergents, and 600 packages of lard, as well as quantities of meat and cigarettes. Furthermore, 13 reports were filed for failure to carry health certificates, and four for not displaying prices.

The operation also targeted the petroleum sector, where authorities detected a fuel station attempting to dispose of 6,099 liters of petroleum products illicitly. The fuel was seized, and the station faced legal consequences. In collaboration with the Egyptian Drug Authority, authorities also raided a pharmacy, confiscating expired medications and taking action against the violators.

The Minya governorate has been actively working to enhance regulatory oversight, as part of the efforts led by Governor Emad Kaddwani. The campaigns aim to protect consumers and maintain market stability by preventing the manipulation of subsidized goods and ensuring compliance with regulations. These actions demonstrate the authorities' resolve to address economic crimes and safeguard public interests.

The seized goods, including food products, fertilizers, and petroleum products, were slated for confiscation and potential distribution through official channels or disposal. The authorities continue to investigate and take legal action against those involved in these illicit activities. The public has been urged to report any suspicious activities or information regarding contraband goods.

The Egyptian authorities' efforts to combat illicit trade and protect consumers are ongoing. The campaigns in Minya reflect a broader strategy to enhance regulatory enforcement and maintain economic stability. Key stakeholders, including consumers and businesses, are encouraged to cooperate with authorities to ensure the integrity of the market and prevent the circulation of contraband goods.
