The Egyptian Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade, in collaboration with the Giza Governorate, has launched a series of intensive campaigns on bakeries, food establishments, and markets in various areas of Giza, including Boulaq Dakrour, El-Warrak, and Ousim. These campaigns aim to ensure compliance with regulatory decisions and laws, as well as protect citizens' rights. The campaigns were carried out under the supervision of the Giza Supply and Internal Trade Directorate.
In Boulaq Dakrour, a campaign led by Ahmed Abu Zeid, resulted in the seizure of a bakery selling bread at a price higher than the official rate. The necessary legal actions were taken against the bakery. Additionally, 44 violations were recorded, including weight shortages, non-compliance with specifications, and sales at inflated prices. Furthermore, 144 ration cards were confiscated from a bakery in the area, as they were being held without a valid reason.
In El-Warrak, a campaign led by Dr. Bilal Kamel resulted in several violations, including three reports of weight shortages, a report of expired production, and a report of specification violations. Moreover, two cases of failure to display prices and two cases of closing a flour warehouse during official working hours were recorded. The campaign also led to the seizure of 300 kilograms of unidentified oil.
In Ousim, a campaign conducted on October 3, 2026, resulted in the recording of 10 violations of weight shortages and one case of missing inspection records in bakeries. The campaign also monitored the Al-Liwa and Ousim mills, where the supply and distribution operations were found to be regular. Furthermore, several violations were recorded among subsidized food retailers and distributors.
The Ousim campaign also led to the seizure of 700 kilograms of milk that did not meet transportation requirements. Additionally, 9 tons of unidentified coffee were confiscated. The seized quantities were held, and the necessary legal actions were taken against the violators. These campaigns are part of the Giza Supply and Internal Trade Directorate's plan to intensify market control.
The Egyptian authorities aim to ensure the quality and safety of goods on the market, combat unidentified goods, and prevent supply violations. The authorities also seek to guarantee that subsidies reach their rightful recipients. The campaigns will continue in various areas of the governorate, and legal actions will be taken against any recorded violations.
The governor of Giza, Ahmed El-Ansari, and the Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, Dr. Sherif Farouk, have emphasized the importance of these campaigns in protecting citizens' rights and controlling the market. The authorities will continue to work to ensure the stability of the market and the availability of essential goods.
