Egypt's Ministry of Transport has reviewed its plans to develop specialized human resources needed to keep pace with the rapid expansion of the transport sector and its growing infrastructure projects. The ministry presented its vision during a World Bank-hosted workshop titled “Investing in Human Capital for the Future of Transport in Egypt: Moving Forward with the Vision of Establishing the Egyptian International University for Transport Engineering and Technology (ENUT).” The workshop was attended by South Korea’s ambassador to Egypt.

The workshop explored cooperation with leading Korean institutions, including the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), Korea National University of Transportation (KNUT), Korea Maritime and Ocean University (KMOU), Korea National Railway, and Hyundai Rotem, as well as international development partners. This cooperation aims to support Egypt's efforts to develop its transport sector. The ministry stated that Egypt has invested more than two trillion LE since 2014 to develop and modernize its transport system.

The transport system development covers roads, railways, public transport, ports, and logistics networks. The ministry is advancing the establishment of ENUT as a specialized institution combining academic education, technical and vocational training, applied research, innovation, and technology transfer. ENUT aims to prepare specialists capable of meeting the current and future needs of Egypt’s transport sector.

The project is being developed in cooperation with the World Bank, the Korea Green Growth Trust Fund (KGGTF), and Korean academic and technical partners. The goal is to eventually make ENUT a regional center for transport education, training, applied research, and capacity building serving Egypt as well as the Middle East and Africa.

The establishment of ENUT is a key part of Egypt's strategy to develop its human capital and address the needs of its expanding transport sector. The ministry's vision for ENUT aligns with Egypt's efforts to enhance its infrastructure and improve the efficiency of its transport systems.

The cooperation with Korean institutions and international development partners is expected to bring expertise and resources to support the development of ENUT and Egypt's transport sector. This collaboration will help Egypt to build a skilled workforce capable of managing and maintaining its modernized transport infrastructure.

The Ministry of Transport's plans to develop human capital for the transport sector are part of Egypt's broader efforts to drive economic growth and development. By investing in education and training, Egypt aims to create a more competitive and sustainable transport sector that can support the country's long-term economic goals.
