Egypt's Ministry of Education and Technical Education has signed a cooperation protocol with French transport operator RATP Dev's Egyptian subsidiary, RDMC, and the French Development Agency (AFD) to establish an applied technology school in Badr City. The school will train technical workers for the transport sector, with classes set to begin in the 2026/2027 academic year. The protocol was signed by Minister of Education and Technical Education Mohamed Abdel Latif, RDMC CEO Wadie Bouchiha, and AFD Cairo Office Director Marie-Cécile Tirion.
The school will specialize in training technicians to operate and maintain modern transport systems. It will provide students with technical and practical skills tailored to the transport sector, drawing on RATP Dev's expertise in operating and maintaining transport systems and AFD's experience supporting urban transport and development projects in Egypt. This partnership aims to improve employment prospects for technical school graduates by providing training directly linked to the needs of the transport sector.
Minister of Education and Technical Education Mohamed Abdel Latif praised France's continued support for developing Egypt's technical education system. He said the school aims to provide "a distinguished model" for technical education in Egypt by combining French expertise in education and training with labour market requirements. Abdel Latif thanked the French partners for supporting the establishment of the school and contributing to its success.
The school will operate under Egypt's applied technology school system and international quality standards. The three-year programme will be based in Badr City, Cairo Governorate. Students who complete the third year will receive a three-year technological baccalaureate, as well as an accredited work-experience certificate from RDMC or the entity responsible for practical training, provided they complete the required training periods.
This partnership comes as Egypt seeks to expand and modernize technical and vocational education, improve graduates' skills, and align technical specializations with labour market needs. The ministry said the school is intended to improve employment prospects for technical school graduates by providing training directly linked to the needs of the transport sector.
