On Thursday, October 8, 2026, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and South Korean President Lee Jae-myung attended a ceremony where several agreements and memoranda of understanding (MoUs) were signed between Egypt and South Korea. The agreements aim to strengthen bilateral cooperation in various fields. The signing ceremony took place in the presence of high-ranking officials from both countries.

One of the agreements signed was in the field of social insurance between the governments of Egypt and South Korea. The agreement was signed by Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Hee. This agreement is expected to enhance cooperation between the two countries in the field of social insurance and provide benefits to citizens of both nations.

In addition to the social insurance agreement, an MoU was signed between the Egyptian Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and the South Korean Ministry of Science and Technology Information and Communications. The MoU was signed by Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and South Korean Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Science and Technology Information and Communications, Bae Kyung-hun. This MoU aims to promote cooperation in the field of information and communication technology.

Another MoU was signed between the Egyptian Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy and the South Korean Ministry of Climate Change, Energy and Environment. The MoU was signed by Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty. This MoU seeks to promote cooperation in the field of clean energy and reduce the impact of climate change.

Furthermore, an MoU was signed between the Egyptian Ministry of Industry and the South Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resources. The MoU was signed by Egyptian Minister of Industry Khalid Hashem. This MoU aims to enhance cooperation in the field of industry and trade between the two countries.

An MoU was also signed between the Egyptian Ministry of Transport and the South Korean Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries. The MoU was signed by Egyptian Minister of Transport, Kamel El-Wazir. This MoU seeks to promote cooperation in the maritime sector and enhance the exchange of expertise between the two countries.

The two presidents also witnessed the signing of a joint statement on the start of negotiations for a comprehensive economic partnership agreement between Egypt and South Korea. The statement was signed by Egyptian Minister of Investment and Trade, Mohamed Farid Salah. This agreement aims to strengthen economic ties between the two countries and promote trade and investment.
