The Egyptian market has witnessed a significant rise in animal feed and raw material prices as of Saturday, September 26, 2026. The cost of feed for poultry farming has reached between 23,500 and 25,200 EGP per ton, varying according to different age groups and bird types. This increase is attributed to the fluctuation in raw material prices, which are used to produce the feed. Market transactions indicate that these changes are affecting the livestock and poultry sectors.
According to traders, the price of feed for poultry production has been fluctuating between 19,000 and 21,500 EGP per ton. Other types of feed, such as those for cattle, have been priced between 16,000 and 21,000 EGP, while feed for ducks ranges from 22,400 to 24,400 EGP. Additionally, feed for rabbits and sheep has been priced at 17,300 EGP, and for pigeons, it ranges from 19,100 to 20,400 EGP. These prices reflect the current market trends and the impact of raw material costs.
The prices of various types of feed continue to show variation. For instance, feed for quail has been priced between 23,000 and 24,000 EGP, while feed for pigeons and camels ranges from 21,000 to 23,000 EGP and 18,600 EGP, respectively. The cost of raw materials used in animal feed production has also seen significant changes. The price of Brazilian and Argentine yellow corn, a primary raw material, has reached 14,800 EGP per ton. In contrast, Ukrainian, Serbian, and American corn has been priced at 14,300 EGP per ton. The price of Argentine corn flakes has been reported at 16,300 EGP per ton. These fluctuations in raw material prices are affecting the overall cost of animal feed.
Traders have reported that the price of cottonseed has reached 24,500 EGP per ton, while linseed cake has been priced at 25,000 EGP. The cost of coarse bran has been reported at 14,500 EGP, and soybean hulls at 15,000 EGP. Additionally, the price of soybean cake with 44% protein has been priced at 25,800 EGP, and with 46% protein at 26,800 EGP. These prices reflect the current market trends for raw materials used in animal feed production.
The global market trends and ongoing conflicts, such as the Russia-Ukraine war and the Middle Eastern conflict, have contributed to the rise in raw material prices. The increase in global fuel prices has also led major producers to divert corn to fuel production in North and South America. This has resulted in a ripple effect on the prices of animal feed and raw materials in Egypt.
According to Dr. Abdulaziz El-Sayed, head of the Poultry Wealth Division at the Cairo Chamber of Commerce, the prices of poultry feed range between 23,500 and 25,000 EGP per ton. He noted that the prices of imported corn have been fluctuating after being listed on the commodity exchange, and the liberalization of the dollar exchange rate has also played a role in these changes. The prices of feed vary depending on the quality, protein ratio, and inclusion of nolon costs.
