The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) released a report on the occasion of World Habitat Day, revealing that a total of 212,000 housing units were completed in Egypt during the 2024/2025 period. This represents a 33% increase from the previous year, with investments amounting to 245.3 billion pounds, compared to 158.9 thousand units and 152 billion pounds in 2023/2024.
The report highlights that the economic housing segment led the way with 86.5 thousand units, accounting for 40.8% of the total. This was followed by the medium segment with 57 thousand units (26.9%), the luxury segment with 49.3 thousand units (23.2%), the above-medium segment with 14.1 thousand units (6.7%), and the low-cost segment with 5.1 thousand units (2.4%).
The public and private sectors played a significant role in the execution of these housing units. The public sector, including government and public business, implemented 104.8 thousand units, representing 49.4% of the total. The private sector, on the other hand, executed 107.2 thousand units, accounting for 50.6% of the total. The report also notes that Cairo led the way in terms of the number of units executed, with 47.6 thousand units, followed by Giza with 20.7 thousand units.
The report provides further insights into the various national projects underway in Egypt. The social housing project, which aims to build one million units, has seen 694.7 thousand units completed so far, with 67.9 thousand units executed in 2024/2025. The "Housing for Egypt" project has a total of 70.5 thousand units, with 7 thousand units completed in the same period. Additionally, the "Jannah Egypt" project, which focuses on luxury housing, has 33.2 thousand units, with 1824 units completed and 10 thousand units currently under construction.
The report also highlights the progress made on other national projects, including the Administrative Capital, which has seen 7302 units completed with investments of 1.6 billion pounds. The New Alamein City project has 1977 units completed and 9623 units currently under construction, with investments of 26 billion pounds. Furthermore, the Urban Development Fund project has 618 units completed with investments of 7 billion pounds.
