Nile Breweries Limited, a subsidiary of SABMiller, has announced a job vacancy for a Distribution Supervisor. The successful candidate will be based in Jinja, Uganda, and will be responsible for implementing and upholding AB Inbev safety standards. The role involves supervising distribution operations to optimize customer service levels and achieve benchmarked productivity standards. The Distribution Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards. This includes tracking and ensuring compliance with driver working hours, maintaining site housekeeping standards, and wearing personal protective equipment (PPE). The candidate should have a degree in Logistics or Supply Chain and a minimum of 3 years of experience in managing financial performance in the FMCG or Beverage industry.
Key duties and responsibilities of the Distribution Supervisor include distribution supervision, ensuring compliance with 5s standards, and cascading global policies. The candidate will also be responsible for validating standard operating procedures (SOPs), updating team rooms, and tracking adherence to SOPs. Additionally, the Distribution Supervisor will be responsible for routing and scheduling to optimize fleet utilization, allocating drivers and vehicle resources, and implementing contingency plans.
The Distribution Supervisor will also be responsible for managing customer-related delivery queries and complaints, conducting root cause analysis, and ensuring drivers adhere to offloading standards. The candidate will participate in handover processes, supervise containers handed over to production, and control warehouse breakages and inventory losses. The Distribution Supervisor will also be responsible for maintaining clear and effective communication with Inventory Analyst/Clerk and Stocks and Settlement Officer.
In terms of cost control, the Distribution Supervisor will be responsible for observing standard fuel usage, reducing idling time, and eliminating breakages and missing bottles. The candidate will also be responsible for managing driver overtime, distribution casual costs, and third-party invoice reconciliations. The Distribution Supervisor will ensure accurate fuel records, pre-trip inspection forms, and on-time submission of reports.
The Distribution Supervisor will also be responsible for people management, including aligning shop floor goals and meeting routines, conducting monthly one-on-ones, and managing leave and disciplinary processes. The candidate will also be responsible for recruitment, talent building, and performing 180 reviews. The Distribution Supervisor will identify and address training needs for drivers and ensure that the team is results-oriented.
