The Qena Governorate has successfully removed 744 tons of waste and debris from the city of Qous, as part of an ongoing effort to improve cleanliness and development in the region. This initiative was carried out by the Environmental and Solid Waste Management Unit of the Qous Local Unit, in coordination with the Qous Paper Factory. The campaign aimed to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the city and promote sustainable development.
The campaign, which lasted for three consecutive days, exceeded its initial target of removing 500 tons of waste, with a total of 744 tons collected. The daily breakdown of waste removal was 156 tons on the first day, 268 tons on the second day, and 320 tons on the third day. The efforts were concentrated on the Qous - Al-Halla and Qous - Al-Kharanqa roads, with active participation from the local unit's equipment and the paper factory.
The Qena Governor, Mustafa Al-Bablawi, commended the partnership between the local authorities, government institutions, and civil society organizations in supporting the cleanliness and development initiatives. He emphasized that such collaborations are essential for improving services, enhancing the environment, and maintaining the city's appearance. Al-Bablawi also praised the Qous Paper Factory for its role in supporting the local unit's efforts.
The Environmental and Solid Waste Management Unit, led by Mohamed Ismail, and the Qous Paper Factory, led by Hesham Abd al-Salam Abu al-Hajjaj, worked together to execute the campaign. The initiative included the deployment of two loaders and three large trucks from the local unit, as well as an additional loader from the paper factory. The governorate aims to continue such efforts to maintain a clean and healthy environment.
