The Department of Cardiology and Vascular Diseases at Qasr Al-Aini Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University, has introduced its third package of advanced training programs in cardiac ultrasound. The programs, which include three specialized tracks, aim to provide doctors with advanced training in cardiac ultrasound techniques. The programs are part of the faculty's efforts to support continuous medical education and provide opportunities for doctors to develop their skills in specialized fields.
The training programs were attended by a group of professors and instructors from the department who have obtained certification from the European Association of Echocardiography. Dr. Hossam Salah Murad, Dean of Qasr Al-Aini Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Cairo University Hospitals, emphasized the importance of organizing these specialized training programs to keep pace with the rapid development of medical diagnosis techniques.
Dr. Azza Farag, Head of the Department of Cardiology and Vascular Diseases, explained that the training package aimed to combine theoretical and practical aspects, allowing trainees to acquire advanced experience in using cardiac ultrasound techniques. The programs included lectures and practical training on patient cases, and were attended by a group of faculty members with international experience and certification in the field.
The training package included three specialized programs. The first program, "Basic and Advanced 2D and 4D Transesophageal Echocardiography Course," provided advanced theoretical lectures and practical training on patient cases. The program lasted for three weeks, from September 5 to 23, 2026. The second program, "Stress Echocardiography Course," focused on theoretical lectures and practical training on using treadmills and dynamic bicycles.
The third program, "Speckle Tracking Echocardiography," provided theoretical lectures and practical training on devices. The programs were held at the Cardiac Unit on the third floor of Qasr Al-Aini Hospital, and were attended by 44 doctors who have obtained a master's degree or Egyptian board certification in cardiology. The training programs were held from 9 am to 4 pm daily, according to each program's schedule.
The training programs aim to provide doctors with advanced skills in cardiac ultrasound techniques, which are essential for diagnosing and treating heart diseases. The programs also aim to improve the quality of healthcare services provided to patients at Qasr Al-Aini Hospital. The participants will receive a certificate from the Cairo University Hospitals' Training Administration upon completing the program.
