The price of white chicken stood at 66-67 EGP per kilogram at the farm, according to Abdelaziz El-Sayed, head of the Poultry Wealth Committee at the Cairo Chamber of Commerce. In the stock exchange, prices ranged from 85 to 90 EGP per kilogram, depending on the region.
The Egyptian Ministry of Agriculture is working to provide easy financing for breeders in cooperation with the National Bank of Egypt and the Egyptian Agricultural Bank. This aims to support the purchase of production necessities such as feed, chicks, medicines, and veterinary vaccines. The ministry also finances the development of breeding rooms and their conversion from open to closed systems.
Egypt's poultry sector comprises over 27,000 diverse farms, including those producing table eggs, broiler chickens, parent chickens, and companies specializing in producing parent and grandparent chickens. According to Agriculture Minister Alaa Farouk, these farms contribute significantly to the country's poultry production.
In the general poultry stock exchange, prices for white chicken stood at 66 EGP per kilogram. The price of Saso chicken was 119 EGP per kilogram, while white parent chickens sold for 70 EGP per kilogram at the farm. These prices reflect the sector's efforts to balance production and meet consumer demand.
Different poultry stock exchanges reported varying prices. For example, Muhammad Adel's poultry stock exchange listed prices at 66 EGP, while the price of local chicken ranged from 140 to 145 EGP. Saso chicken sold for 140 EGP to consumers, and 115 EGP per kilogram in Muhammad Adel's stock exchange.
The production of white chicken has seen significant growth, reaching 1.6 billion birds compared to 1.4 billion last year, representing a 14% increase. The price of white chicks ranged from 21 to 22 EGP, while Saso chicks sold for 19-20 EGP. These developments indicate a thriving poultry sector in Egypt, with stable prices and growing production.
