White poultry prices stabilized at 85-90 EGP/kg, varying by region. The government's efforts to support the sector have led to a significant increase in production capacity.
The poultry sector in Egypt has achieved a remarkable production capacity, with 1.6 billion white chickens produced, up from 1.4 billion last year, representing a 14% growth, according to Dr. Tarek Soliman. The sector provides direct and indirect job opportunities for around 3.5 million citizens. Egypt has also made significant strides in vaccine production, increasing its capacity to 2.3 billion doses annually.
The price of Romy poultry ranged from 150 to 160 EGP/kg in the local market. The sector comprises over 27,000 diverse farms, including those producing table eggs, broiler chickens, and parent stock, as well as companies specializing in producing parent and grandparent stock. The government aims to accelerate the opening of new markets to absorb the surplus local production.
The price of duck meat ranged from 130 to 140 EGP/kg. According to Dr. Alaa Farouk, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Egypt has been recognized as one of the countries applying the isolated poultry farm system, in line with the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) regulations. This has enabled Egypt to access new export markets.
The prices of Minir El-Saka poultry were reported at 66 EGP for white chickens and 119 EGP for Saso chickens. The production of table eggs reached 16 billion, up from 14 billion last year. The sector has also seen a 12% increase in the production of local breed chickens, reaching 360 million.
The prices of chicks in the local market rose to 22-23 EGP. The growth in the poultry sector is attributed to the government's support for small and large producers, as well as the efforts to increase production capacity and open new export markets.
