Egypt's New Administrative Capital for Urban Development recently welcomed a Tanzanian government delegation from the Tanzania Building Agency (TBA) to foster cooperation and exchange expertise in urban planning, management, and operations. The meeting was attended by Khaled Abbas, Chairman and Managing Director of the New Administrative Capital for Urban Development. Discussions focused on leveraging Egyptian experience in modern city management and development.
The Tanzanian delegation participated in a week-long workshop covering various topics, including urban planning, utility management, electricity and energy, and information technology. They also explored Egypt's experience in building and operating the new administrative capital, including infrastructure and facility management. The workshop included site visits to several projects, power plants, and control centers.
Khaled Abbas emphasized that the workshop was part of Egypt's efforts to cooperate with African countries and share expertise in urban development and management. He highlighted Egypt's experience in infrastructure development, digital transformation, and project management. Abbas also expressed interest in exploring cooperation opportunities with Tanzania in developing and managing the capital city, Dodoma.
The Tanzanian delegation, led by Dr. Kimata Malikel, expressed appreciation for the workshop's content and expertise. They benefited from site visits and gained insights into the planning, infrastructure, technology, and management of the new administrative capital. The Tanzanian side is interested in signing a memorandum of understanding to exchange expertise, training, and knowledge.
The visit aligns with the New Administrative Capital for Urban Development's strategy to expand international cooperation in modern city development and management. The company has previously signed memoranda of understanding with several countries, including Zambia, Zimbabwe, Madagascar, South Korea, and China.
Dr. Malikel stated that Tanzania looks forward to benefiting from Egyptian expertise through a joint cooperation agreement. This agreement would cover areas such as exchanging expertise, training, and knowledge transfer, ultimately supporting efforts to develop and manage Dodoma.
The cooperation between Egypt and Tanzania aims to enhance urban development and management in both countries. The exchange of expertise and knowledge will contribute to the growth and modernization of cities in Africa.
