The Serengeti Rally of Tanzania, scheduled to take place from October 1 to 4, 2026, in Morogoro, is set to feature a strong international field. Uganda's Susan Muwonge, a former champion, will participate alongside her team, including Musa Nsubuga, Oscar Ntambi, Pius Luggya, Godfrey Nsereko, and Bosco Musisi. Muwonge's presence is expected to add excitement to the competition, which forms part of the Africa Rally Championship (ARC).
The rally, the fourth and final round of this year's ARC, will feature experienced crews from across Africa and beyond. Notable competitors include two-time African Champion Karan Patel from Kenya, navigated by Touseef Khan, and Kenya's Akif Viran and Zahir Shah. Defending champions Yassin Nasser and Ally Katumba from Uganda will also return to defend their title. Additionally, the India Subcontinent will be represented by Naveen Pulligila and Musa Sharif.
According to Dr. Mosi Makau, the event's Clerk of the Course, all arrangements have been completed ahead of the four-day rally. The competition will cover approximately 250 kilometers, including 186.81 kilometers of competitive distance, with demanding stages designed to test the speed, skill, and endurance of participating crews. The event will begin with crews undertaking reconnaissance of all the rally stages on Thursday, October 1.
On Friday, October 2, crews will take part in Free Practice, followed by the Qualifying Stage, and conclude the day with the official Ceremonial Start in the evening. Competition will intensify on Saturday with two stages: Ruaha, covering 13.35 kilometers, and Serengeti, covering 16.25 kilometers. Both stages will be repeated three times before crews complete the day with a 2.40-kilometer Super Special Stage.
On Sunday, crews will tackle the Kilimanjaro Stage, measuring 22.36 kilometers, and the Ngorongoro Stage, covering 9.51 kilometers. Both stages will also be repeated three times. All competitive stages will be held within areas managed by the Tanzania Forest Services (TFS). The event is expected to attract a large audience, with Mkwawa Group Director of Relations Richard Sinamtwa calling on rally fans and the public to turn out in large numbers.
Sinamtwa stated that the rally provides an opportunity for the public to experience high-level motorsport while creating opportunities for businesses and communities to benefit from the increased activity surrounding the event. The Serengeti Rally of Tanzania is expected to be an exciting competition, with a strong international field and challenging stages.
The rally's organizers have confirmed that 235 participants have registered for the event, with thirteen 'ironmen' also set to compete in the Mkwawa Leaf Rally showdown. With its demanding stages and strong international field, the Serengeti Rally of Tanzania promises to be an unmissable event for motorsport enthusiasts.
