The directive also sets prices for fancy bread: EGP 2 for a 50-gram loaf, EGP 1.5 for a 40-gram loaf, and EGP 1 for a 30-gram loaf. These measures aim to standardize and regulate the market.
The Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade has intensified its oversight, conducting campaigns to monitor bakeries' compliance with the set prices and weights. Dr. Farouk noted that some irregularities have been detected, and legal actions have been taken against non-compliant bakeries. The Ministry vows to continue its monitoring efforts to ensure adherence to the regulations.
Dr. Farouk has instructed the Ministry's Regulatory and Distribution Sector, as well as provincial supply and trade directorates, to enhance their monitoring and inspection of tourist and fancy bakeries. The Minister stressed that the Ministry will not tolerate any violations related to underweight bread or selling at prices higher than those set. He assured that monitoring campaigns will continue across various governorates to maintain order in the market and protect citizens' rights.
