The Egyptian Ministry of Endowments continues its efforts to renovate and develop houses of worship, opening 28 mosques on Friday, October 2, 2026. This initiative is part of the ministry's plan to restore and upgrade mosques nationwide. The newly opened mosques include five newly built ones, 11 renovated and restored mosques, and 12 mosques that have undergone maintenance and development.
Since July 1, 2026, the ministry has opened a total of 263 mosques, including 178 newly built or renovated mosques and 85 mosques that have undergone maintenance and development. The ministry's efforts to restore and develop mosques have been ongoing since July 2014, with a total of 14,942 mosques renovated, restored, or maintained at a cost of approximately EGP 29.131 billion.
The list of mosques opened on Friday reflects a geographical diversity across various governorates. In Damietta, the Ministry of Endowments renovated and restored the Al-Rahman Mosque in Abu Ghazi village, Kafr Saad. In Matruh, the ministry renovated and restored the Luqman Mosque in the 21st neighborhood of the Sugar Factory in El Hammam city.
In the Beheira governorate, the ministry renovated and restored several mosques, including the Al-Bahri Mosque in Ensha village, El-Rahmania center, and the Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq Mosque in Nakla Al-Anab village, Itai Al-Barud center. The ministry also carried out maintenance and development work on the Abu Youssef Mosque in Baraka Ghatas village, Abu Homs center, and the Al-Kum Mosque in Ezbet Badar, Rashid center.
The ministry's efforts also extended to Giza, where it renovated and restored the Al-Salam Mosque in Ezbet Qut Al-Qulub, Al-Ayat center, and the Abd Al-Jawad Abu Talib Mosque in Ezbet Abu Talib, Al-Saudi village, Al-Ayat center. In Beni Suef, the ministry renovated and restored the Al-Adami Mosque in Bani Nasir village, Al-Mimon, Al-Wassti center.
The Ministry of Endowments also inaugurated new mosques, including the Al-Wahid Al-Ahad Mosque in Shenra village, Al-Fashn center, and the Al-Duaa Mosque in El-Obour city, and the Al-Taqwa Mosque in Batta village, Benha center. These efforts reflect the ministry's commitment to developing and renovating houses of worship across Egypt.
