The Ministries of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Labor in Egypt have announced the commencement of applications for two new programs: a professional diploma and a professional master's degree in Occupational Safety and Health. These programs are being implemented by the National Center for Occupational Safety and Health Studies and Environment Work in collaboration with the Faculty of Science at Cairo University. This initiative is part of a cooperation protocol between the two ministries aimed at qualifying specialized cadres and enhancing their efficiency.
The programs are part of the postgraduate studies offered by the Faculty of Science at Cairo University, as per Ministerial Decision No. 1815 of 2026. They are designed for holders of higher education qualifications from various disciplines, subject to admission requirements and regulations. The professional diploma program spans one academic year, comprising two semesters, with a total of 24 credit hours. Out of these, 16 credit hours are compulsory, and 8 are elective. To be eligible for the diploma, applicants must hold a bachelor's degree or its equivalent from a recognized university or institution.
The professional master's program, on the other hand, extends over 12 months distributed across three academic semesters, totaling 34 credit hours. This includes 18 compulsory credit hours, 10 elective credit hours, and 6 credit hours for an applied research project. Applicants for the master's program must have a bachelor's degree with a general grade of at least "good," or a diploma in Occupational Safety and Health from a recognized educational institution.
The study programs offer flexible attendance options, including direct attendance, distance education, or a hybrid system, depending on the nature of each program and the rules approved in coordination with Cairo University's Faculty of Science and the National Center for Occupational Safety and Health Studies. These programs qualify students to work in areas related to occupational safety and health, including sectors such as industry, construction, energy, oil and gas, transportation, ports, logistics, healthcare facilities, hotels, companies, and service sectors.
Applications for these programs began on October 1, 2026. Interested candidates can submit their files at the headquarters of the National Center for Occupational Safety and Health Studies and Environment Work, located at 156 Hijaz Street, Hijaz Square, Egypt, New Cairo. The required documents include a copy of the academic qualification, transcripts, birth certificate, national ID, and passport photos, among others.
The Ministries of Higher Education and Labor emphasized that the latest regulations, decisions, and official announcements issued by the concerned authorities represent the final reference regarding admission requirements, registration, payment, and the study system. This initiative aims to enhance the capabilities of Egyptian cadres in the field of occupational safety and health, in line with international standards and practices.
Key details about the programs include eligibility criteria, duration, and the structure of the study. The professional diploma requires a bachelor's degree and spans one year, while the master's program requires a bachelor's degree with a certain grade and lasts for 12 months. Both programs are designed to meet the growing demand for specialists in occupational safety and health across various sectors in Egypt.
