The Egyptian Ministries of Communications and Information Technology, and Labor have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation in implementing digital institutional development projects. The MoU was signed by Ghada Labeeb, Deputy Minister of Communications and Information Technology for Institutional Development, and Dr. Nashwa Abboud El-Sharky, Head of the Central Human Resources Administration at the Ministry of Labor. This cooperation aims to develop the necessary skills to keep pace with the requirements of the labor market and digital economy.
The MoU focuses on two main axes: supporting the digital institutional development of the Ministry of Labor and its affiliated agencies, and implementing programs to build digital capacities and spread digital culture. The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology will provide training programs to develop the skills of workers at the Ministry of Labor and prepare them to work in a digital environment. This cooperation also aims to provide programs that qualify graduates and job seekers with the necessary skills to compete in the labor market.
The Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Eng. Raft Hendy, emphasized that developing digital skills is a fundamental pillar for achieving digital transformation and building an integrated digital society. He added that this cooperation with the Ministry of Labor is based on supporting digital institutional development and building digital capacities. The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology is working to provide programs that develop skills in areas such as artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.
The Minister of Labor, Hassan Raddad, stressed that this MoU confirms the keenness of the two ministries to enhance integration between the labor system and digital transformation. He added that the Ministry of Labor has taken important steps in digitizing its services and making them available through the Egypt Digital platform. The Ministry plans to expand its services to include other areas, such as certificates of skill level and practicing a profession.
The cooperation between the two ministries will include several areas, including digital culture, digital transformation, and information technology. The programs will be designed to meet the different needs of the targeted groups and will include a range of activities, from spreading digital culture and awareness to building skills and dealing with emerging technologies. The goal is to provide an integrated system that links training with labor market needs.
The MoU also aims to support the digital empowerment of citizens, especially graduates and job seekers, and small and medium-sized entrepreneurs. The programs will focus on developing skills in using digital tools to improve job opportunities and benefit from digital platforms and markets. The cooperation will also include awareness of data protection and safe practices in the digital environment.
The signing ceremony was attended by several officials from both ministries, including Eng. Ahmed Zaher, CEO of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), and Dr. Mahmoud Fakhreddine, Head of the Central Administration for Mechanization Projects at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology. The two ministries will work together to develop an executive plan to translate the MoU into practical steps in digital institutional development, capacity building, and digital culture dissemination.
