The upgraded Balqas slaughterhouse was built on an area of 600 square meters and began operations on April 7, 2026, after a renovation that cost around 5 million Egyptian pounds, funded by a private investor. Dr. Awad and Major General Marzouq inspected the facility's slaughter and processing lines, reviewing its capacity. The officials emphasized the importance of providing safe and healthy services to citizens.
The Minister of Local Development and the Governor of Dakahlia also inspected the Mit Al-Karamah slaughterhouse in Talkha center, which was built on an area of nearly two feddans and started operating on June 2, 2025. They reviewed the facility's capacity and performance. The upgrade of these slaughterhouses aims to improve the services provided to citizens and ensure compliance with health and environmental regulations.
According to Dr. Manal Awad, the Ministry of Local Development and Environment has developed three slaughterhouses in Dakahlia governorate, including the Mit Al-Karamah, Dekernes, and Senbata slaughterhouses. These facilities were handed over to private companies and are now operating with investors, ensuring the optimal use of state investments. The ministry is also overseeing the development of other slaughterhouses in the governorate.
