Egypt's leather industry has taken a significant step towards boosting its competitiveness in the global market. The Egyptian Radio and Television Union reported that the industry has adopted a comprehensive strategy to enhance its competitiveness, increase exports, and protect the local market. The strategy, which was developed by the Chamber of Leather Industry, aims to support and develop the leather industry, improve the skills of workers, and increase the sector's contribution to the country's economy.

The strategy focuses on six main axes, including supporting and developing the industry, improving labor skills, protecting the local market, increasing exports, providing production requirements, and enhancing communication with members. The plan involves distributing the strategy's tasks and executive files to the board of directors, specialized committees, and branches to ensure speedy implementation and follow-up of results.

The industry plans to expand major industrial projects, such as the Hope Complex in Shona Abu, to establish similar projects that serve the leather industry and support its growth. Additionally, the industry aims to establish direct sales centers for finished products and production requirements to open new marketing channels for factories and increase their ability to reach consumers and customers.

To develop the industry and human resources, the board has decided to assign the file of training workers and improving skills to the Training Committee. The committee will focus on developing the education and training system to meet the needs of the labor market. The industry also plans to benefit from the capacity of the Advanced Leather Industry School in the Tenth of Ramadan City and develop dual education curricula.

In the field of protecting the national industry, the board has assigned the file to the three branches of the Chamber, which are the Footwear Branch, the Leather Products Branch, and the Production Requirements Branch. The branches will continue efforts to combat smuggling and protect Egyptian factories from harmful practices in the local market.

The industry has also set a plan to participate in exhibitions and commercial missions locally and internationally to promote Egyptian leather products and open new markets. The plan involves developing international marketing tools in cooperation with commercial attachés and export support agencies.

The Chamber of Leather Industry has also decided to establish an electronic platform to market Egyptian leather products globally, allowing factories to reach new customers and markets through digital marketing tools. Additionally, the industry plans to attract foreign partners and investors to localize the production of production requirements in Egypt, which will support the deepening of local manufacturing and reduce dependence on imports.
