Egypt's Holding Company for Water and Wastewater has issued a set of directives and procedures for its subsidiary companies to prepare for the winter and rainy season. The company aims to enhance preparedness and take proactive measures to deal with weather changes. This includes raising the readiness of networks, stations, equipment, and emergency teams to quickly respond to rainwater accumulations.

According to Eng. Mustafa El-Shimy, Chairman of the Holding Company, preparations for the winter season rely on proactive action, increasing network and station readiness, and having emergency teams on standby. This will ensure rapid response to rainwater accumulations, minimizing their impact on sewage systems and maintaining service delivery to citizens.

El-Shimy has directed subsidiary company heads to implement and review their winter preparedness plans, ensuring all elements of the system are ready. This includes regular cleaning of rainwater drains and inspection chambers, repairing any damage, and completing the installation of necessary covers. He also emphasized the need to increase the efficiency of main pumping stations.

The Holding Company has instructed its subsidiaries to prepare for the deployment of equipment and water suction vehicles in key areas, such as main axes, squares, bridges, and areas prone to water accumulation. This is based on maps of hotspots and lessons learned from previous seasons, allowing for rapid intervention and response to rainwater accumulations.

El-Shimy has also directed the review of field monitoring teams, cleaning and maintenance teams, and station monitoring plans, prioritizing site urgency. He emphasized the importance of continuous field monitoring of networks, stations, and equipment deployment sites, ensuring teams are ready to work around the clock when needed.

The Holding Company is also enhancing its emergency response systems, including the 125 hotline and customer service centers, to receive citizen complaints and respond to them quickly. This includes linking these centers with emergency teams and field teams to ensure rapid response to complaints during rainfall periods.

The company will continue to coordinate with the Egyptian Meteorological Authority to monitor weather forecasts and expected rainfall rates, linking these with deployment and positioning plans. This coordination will also extend to emergency rooms in subsidiary companies, the Holding Company's operations room, and other relevant agencies.
