Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr. Bader Abdelatty has stated that Egypt's foreign policy is founded on the principle of strategic commitment, as established by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. During an interview with Cairo News Channel in New York, Abdelatty highlighted Egypt's efforts to promote dialogue and negotiation, and to reject military solutions. He noted that Egypt has been actively engaged in diplomatic efforts, including contacts with Iranian, Omani, and Saudi Arabian foreign ministers, as well as with the Quartet group comprising Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Turkey.
Abdelatty emphasized that Egypt is a large country with wise and rational leadership under President El-Sisi, and that no party can manipulate it into conflicts. He stressed that Egypt has its own will, positions, and choices, and that it acts in accordance with its national interests. The minister also highlighted the strong and close relationship between Egypt and the United States.
The minister discussed Egypt's role in the Palestinian sector, citing the efforts made by Egypt in collaboration with regional partners to stop the Israeli aggression on Gaza. He noted that while some progress has been made, the situation in Gaza remains dire and catastrophic. Abdelatty also expressed concern over Israel's failure to implement its commitments under the US President's plan.
Abdelatty touched on the upcoming Israeli elections, stating that Egypt does not interfere in other countries' internal affairs. However, he expressed hope that the elections will lead to a partner that can work with Egypt to establish peace. Regarding the Sudanese situation, Abdelatty stated that Egypt will make every effort to find a solution and promote stability in Sudan.
The minister also discussed the Egyptian-American relationship, describing it as strong and close, with coordination on various issues. He noted that Egypt and the US are working together to restore stability in the Middle East and that the two countries continue to coordinate efforts to reduce escalation in the region.
