The Egyptian Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has launched the "Digital Pioneers" initiative, aimed at building the capabilities of Egyptian youth and qualifying them to compete in the job market. The initiative offers three main tracks: a one-year professional master's degree, a nine-month specialized diploma, and a four-month intensive diploma. These tracks cover various specializations, including artificial intelligence, data science, digital arts, and software.
According to Dr. Hisham Farouk, Technological Development Advisor at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, the initiative targets graduates aged between 22 and 32. The initiative includes over 50 companies for employment and training, with the goal of linking graduates to the job market. This will enable participants to benefit from the skills they acquire during the training period.
Dr. Farouk explained that applicants undergo around five stages of tests, starting with a technical test in their specialization, followed by language tests and performance levels, medical and athletic screening, and finally, a panel review. These tests aim to select qualified candidates for the training programs, ensuring that only the best talents are chosen.
The study is completely free, although students may bear some living expenses. The cost of training an individual ranges from 500,000 to one million pounds, depending on the program and specialization, and is covered by the state. This investment in human capital represents a national priority.
The professional master's program involves cooperation with Canadian Queen's University and Malaysian Sunway University, and graduates receive accredited certificates, in addition to certificates from global technology companies. These certificates give graduates a competitive edge in the job market.
The initiative includes organizing meetings to connect graduates with the job market, supporting the utilization of skills acquired during the training period. Dr. Farouk emphasized that the initiative represents a bridge between education and the job market, and is an important step in the state's strategy to build a knowledge-based economy.
