Egypt's Al-Azhar is set to host a meeting today to discuss a book titled "Inheritance: Doubts Surrounding Women's Rights in Inheritance". The meeting, which is part of the 68th Fiqh meeting between Islamic law and medicine, aims to provide a modern perspective on the issue. The event will feature Dr. Muhammad Al-Shahat Al-Gendy, a professor of Islamic law and a member of the Islamic Research Complex, and Dr. Abdel Moneim Sultan, a professor of Islamic law at the Faculty of Law, Menoufia University.
The meeting will be moderated by Dr. Kamal Nsr Eddin, a media representative at the Quranic Radio. According to Dr. Abdel Moneim Fouad, the supervisor of Al-Azhar's areas, the meeting is an important platform to highlight the close relationship between medicine and Islamic law in various aspects of life. He emphasized that Al-Azhar is working to provide comprehensive solutions that align with Islamic law and the challenges of the modern era.
Dr. Fouad noted that the science of inheritance is one of the most important and noble Islamic sciences, as it is directly related to financial justice and the preservation of rights among family members after death. In light of contemporary challenges and the complexities of financial interests, the importance of this science is reaffirmed as a comprehensive legislative system that does not allow for arbitrary interpretation.
The science of inheritance aims to dismantle any potential conflicts or family disputes by establishing clear and strict criteria for distributing inheritances, thereby preserving family ties and preventing the unjust acquisition of wealth. Dr. Hani Ouda pointed out that the meeting is a significant step towards enhancing societal awareness of the importance of fiqh and medical issues.
He stressed the need to build a society that is aware of the importance of preserving Islamic values in light of medical developments. Dr. Ouda added that the science of inheritance remains a social and economic safety valve, protecting the deceased person's estate and justly fulfilling the rights of individuals. With the evolution of modern financial forms, there is a pressing need to spread fiqh and legal awareness.
The meeting is part of a series of events that promote constructive and productive dialogue in society. The events are scheduled to take place every Monday after Maghreb prayer at the Ottoman Pavilion in Al-Azhar. The discussions aim to provide a platform for scholars and experts to engage in dialogue and exchange ideas on various topics.
The book being discussed, "Inheritance: Doubts Surrounding Women's Rights in Inheritance", is expected to address various concerns and questions surrounding women's rights in inheritance. The meeting is expected to provide valuable insights and perspectives on the issue, promoting a better understanding of the complexities involved.
