The Egyptian Ministry of Education and Technical Education is preparing for the 2026-2027 preparatory certificate exams, which coincide with the start of procedures for registering for the exam and determining the prescribed fees. The ministry has also announced the specifications for the Arabic language exam and the system for distributing year-end work grades and evaluations for students in the preparatory stage.
The registration fees for the 2027 preparatory certificate exams are EGP 158 for each attempt, according to the specified fees for advancing to the exams. This includes EGP 10 in additional fees, along with EGP 148 for services, supplies, and exam materials. These fees are paid to the Fund for Supporting, Financing, Managing, and Building Educational Projects, through Egyptian Post offices or approved electronic collection outlets, including the Fawry service, using the student's national ID.
The electronic registration for the preparatory certificate exam form for the 2026-2027 academic year began on October 1, 2026, and will continue until October 22, 2026. Students must complete their electronic form data, review it carefully, complete the adoption procedures, print it, and submit it to the school with the required documents.
The Ministry of Education has specified that the Arabic language exam for preparatory certificate students in the 2026-2027 academic year will consist of 27 questions, totaling 40 points. The exam questions are distributed between multiple-choice and essay questions, with 12 multiple-choice questions worth 12 points, representing 30% of the total exam points, and 15 essay questions worth 28 points, representing 70% of the exam.
The Arabic language exam includes several sections, including expression, reading, story, texts, and grammar, according to the specified exam paper details. In expression, the exam includes two essay questions worth 7 points; the first is a compulsory functional expression worth 3 points, and the second is an optional creative expression worth 4 points.
The evaluation system for the first and second preparatory grades differs from that for preparatory certificate students, as it relies on a continuous evaluation system. The year-end work and evaluations constitute 70% of the subject grade, compared to 30% for the end-of-semester exam. The 70% for year-end work and evaluations is distributed as follows: 20% for weekly evaluations through short tests conducted within the class, 15% for the first-month test, 15% for the second-month test, 10% for homework and class participation, 10% for attendance and behavior, and 30% for the end-of-semester exam.
For the third preparatory grade, which is the preparatory certificate year, there are no year-end work grades added to the student's total score. The student's total score in the preparatory certificate is calculated through the unified written exam held at the governorate level at the end of each semester, with 140 points for the first semester and 140 points for the second semester, making the total score for the academic year 280 points.
