The Egyptian government has taken a significant step towards providing comprehensive social and health protection to delivery workers. On a recent date, Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly witnessed the signing of a cooperation protocol between the Ministry of Labor and Delivery Hero Talabat Egypt, along with several logistics offices. This protocol aims to regulate the status of delivery workers and provide them with social protection by registering them in the Ministry of Labor's database for irregular workers.

The protocol was signed by Shimai Abdullah Kamal, head of the Central Administration for Irregular Labor Affairs at the Ministry of Labor, and Hedir Walid Shalaby, Deputy President and CEO of Delivery Hero Talabat Egypt. Several representatives from logistics offices, which are contracted with Talabat to provide delivery services, also attended the signing. This move is part of the government's efforts to achieve social justice and expand protection for vulnerable groups, improving their living standards and supporting their active participation in the development process.

The Ministry of Labor plays a crucial role in drawing up policies for employing and monitoring irregular workers, who are among the most needy groups for social care and protection. This protocol is a key step in the government's plan to provide support and protection to irregular workers, as outlined in the Egypt 2026 forum. The Ministry aims to continue its efforts to enhance support and care for these workers and expand its database to include more beneficiaries.

Talabat, a digital platform company, contracts with several delivery service companies that use irregular workers to deliver orders. These workers will now be registered in the Ministry of Labor's database, providing them with social and health protection. The protocol ensures that these workers receive necessary care and guarantees they have suitable social and economic protection to face potential risks during their work.

Under this protocol, the Ministry of Labor will register workers from delivery service companies contracted with Talabat in an independent database for irregular workers. This registration will provide workers with coverage for risks and payment of grants and compensations from the Emergency Aid Fund and social and health services for irregular workers.

The care provided includes compensation for death resulting from accidents during work, total or partial disability due to work accidents, natural death, and total or partial natural disability. Additionally, workers will receive support for natural death, death of first-degree relatives, major and minor surgeries, marriage, and childbirth. These benefits will be provided according to relevant decisions and regulations.

The signing of this protocol demonstrates the government's commitment to providing comprehensive social and health protection to delivery workers, who play a vital role in the country's economy. By registering these workers in the Ministry of Labor's database, the government aims to ensure they receive necessary support and care, improving their living standards and enhancing their participation in the development process.
