The Egyptian food industry has seen significant growth, with the country exporting 200,000 tons of food products to 166 countries in just one week. According to the Egyptian Authority for Food Safety, 4220 food messages were exported by 1450 companies, featuring around 710 types of food products. These products included vegetables, fruits, grains, and various processed foods. The exports were carried out through different ports, with the Port of Safaga leading the way.
The Egyptian Authority for Food Safety conducted 79 inspection visits to evaluate food establishments' compliance with quality and food safety regulations. Seven establishments were registered, and five managed to meet the authority's requirements. Additionally, 40 inspection missions were carried out on stations and packaging centers. A total of 740 inspection visits were conducted on agricultural products prepared for export in various governorates.
The top vegetables exported were potatoes, onions, and potatoes, with quantities of 17,000 tons, 14,000 tons, and 5,000 tons, respectively. The leading fruits exported were strawberries, mangoes, and pomegranates, with quantities of 12,000 tons, 7,000 tons, and 5,000 tons, respectively. These exports demonstrate Egypt's diverse agricultural production and its ability to meet international demand.
The United States topped the list of countries importing Egyptian food products, followed by Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, Somalia, and Sudan. A total of 166 countries received Egyptian food exports during the week. The Port of Safaga was the leading port for exports, with 741 messages, followed by the Port of Damietta with 650 messages, and the Port of Alexandria with 567 messages.
The Egyptian Authority for Food Safety issued 1340 health certificates for exports, ensuring that products meet safety regulations and boosting international confidence in Egyptian exports. In addition, 2331 food messages were imported, with a total quantity of 220,000 tons, from 900 companies. The imported products included soybeans, wheat, and various oils.
The United States was the leading country exporting food products to Egypt, followed by Russia, Indonesia, Ukraine, and India. A total of 84 countries exported food products to Egypt during the week. The Port of Alexandria was the leading port for imports, with 714 messages, followed by Cairo International Airport with 356 messages, and the Port of Port Said with 346 messages.
The Egyptian Authority for Food Safety also issued import licenses to 119 importers during the week. The authority carried out its duties in accordance with the regulations and laws in place to ensure food safety and quality.
