Egypt's Minister of Transport, Engineer Kamel El-Wazir, emphasized the strong cooperation between Egypt and Saudi Arabia in the field of transportation and logistics. He highlighted the importance of the Southern Arab Trade Corridor, which connects Europe and the Gulf region through Egypt, utilizing international integrated logistics corridors to the ports of Safaga and Neom (formerly Duba) in Saudi Arabia.
During a visit to the Saudi Embassy in Cairo, El-Wazir congratulated Saudi Ambassador to Egypt, Saleh bin Eid Al-Hussaini, on Saudi Arabia's National Day. He mentioned that Egypt is implementing eight international developmental logistics corridors, integrating ports on the Red Sea and Mediterranean, the Suez Canal axis, and dry ports, industrial, agricultural, and mining areas via a modern network of railways, high-speed trains, and highways.
These logistics corridors aim to provide effective transportation routes for goods, reducing handling time and costs, and enhancing the competitiveness of the Egyptian economy. This aligns with Egypt's vision of integrated regional and international connectivity, positioning the country as a logistics hub connecting the Gulf, the Middle East, Africa, and Europe.
El-Wazir stressed that the next phase requires continued collaboration between the two countries, exploring broader partnership opportunities in economic, investment, and trade sectors. He noted that the Egyptian-Saudi Higher Coordination Council represents a significant framework for coordinating efforts and advancing bilateral cooperation to meet the aspirations of both nations.
Ambassador Al-Hussaini affirmed that Egyptian-Saudi relations represent a model of brotherhood, cooperation, and integration between the two countries. He highlighted that the relations have the full support of the Saudi leadership, including King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
The Saudi ambassador emphasized that his country attaches great importance to enhancing cooperation with Egypt, considered a strategic and pivotal partner. He noted that the current phase offers promising opportunities for deepening economic, investment, and trade cooperation, leveraging the significant capabilities of both countries for the benefit of both nations.
