The Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa, has reaffirmed his commitment to completing the Bishop’s Chapel project of the Methodist Church of Nigeria, Diocese of Edo-Delta. Idahosa made this pledge at the 2026 Diocesan Harvest and Lay Preachers Recognition Service held at the Methodist Church, Wesley Cathedral, in Benin City. The event was attended by notable figures, including the former Edo Governor, Chief Lucky Nosakhare Igbinedion.
According to a statement issued by Idahosa's Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Friday Aghedo, the deputy governor was honoured for his contributions towards the development of the Bishop’s Chapel. As Chief Harvester at the event, Idahosa expressed gratitude for the recognition and reiterated his commitment to completing the project. He emphasized that it was a great opportunity to be in the presence of God and appreciated the honour.
Idahosa's decision to personally attend the service was informed by his respect for the Methodist Church, which he described as one of the oldest Christian denominations. He also expressed admiration for the Bishop of the Edo-Delta Diocese, Rt. Rev. Dr. Nosakhare Nosayaba. The bishop commended Gov. Monday Okpebholo for his people-oriented policies and noted that the award recipients were carefully nominated in recognition of their contributions to the growth and development of the church.
The former Edo Governor, Chief Lucky Nosakhare Igbinedion, was also recognised as Co-Harvester at the event. He was represented by his son, Eghe Nosakhare Igbinedion Jnr. Eghe described initiatives that advanced the kingdom of God and promoted the spread of the gospel as noble projects. He appreciated the harvest as an opportunity to appreciate God and give back through thanksgiving.
The Chairman of the Harvest Organising Committee, Prof. Yinka Omorogbe, disclosed that proceeds from the Harvest of Gratitude would be channelled towards the completion of a new church project along the bypass. Omorogbe urged Christians, particularly younger members who had moved to other denominations, to remember their roots and maintain connections with the churches where their parents worshipped.
Omorogbe noted that churches were generational institutions that should be preserved for future generations. The event saw notable figures receive awards for their contributions to the church. Idahosa's pledge to complete the Bishop’s Chapel project was well-received, and his commitment was seen as a boost to the development of the church.
